Actor and former NFL running back Ed Marinaro has crossed from the world of sports into the world of Hollywood, and has developed some strong views on both.
Mr. Marinaro has appeared in countless films and television shows, but most notably for his role as Officer Joseph Coffey on the television series Hill Street Blues. He also had staring roles in Laverne and Shirley, and Sisters, and the upcoming Vegas Crew.
He's also a spokesman for CHARACTER COUNTS! -- a nationwide nonprofit initiative to support nonpartisan, nonsectarian character education and help young people develop the basics of good character: trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship.
Prior to acting, Marinaro played in the NFL for the New York Jets and Minnesota Vikings (where he was the first rookie to ever start for coach Bud Grant).
Marinaro also compiled a stellar college career at Cornell, where he rushed for an NCAA record 1,881 yards in 1971, was a three time All-American, and became the first player in college football history to gain over 4000 yards in a career (4,715) as well as set 16 other NCAA records. He was inducted in the College Football hall of fame in 1991.
Now Ed brings his own unique perspective on sports and celebrity in a new column for SportsHollywood!
