Ed Marinaro

With All Due Respect

Hello there everyone out there in SportsHollywood land! Sorry I've been away for so long, but I have a very good reason. His name is Edward Louis Marinaro and he is a healthy 5 month old future PGA player. Little Ed is a lot of work but well worth all my effort.

So, on to the Big Game!

The #1 offense against the #1 defense. First time this has happened in a Super Bowl -- but the key, to me, will be one thing... Rich Gannon's feet. Gannon is indisputably the MVP of the NFL this year, as evident in the NFC Championship game last week. It will be Gannon's ability to move in and out of the pocket, as well as breaking containment, that will be the big difference in this game. If Gannon can move freely, he and the Raiders will be Super Bowl XXXVII Champions. Though remember my picks historically have not been that accurate. I think I've picked one winner the entire playoffs this year.

I'll be leaving this Thursday to head down to San Diego to take in some of the festivities. Every year the events leading to up the the game are, for me, the most fun. I'll be staying at the NFL hotel and playing in Franco Harris's golf tourney, so here will be plenty of time to hang out with current and former players. I get to see old friends and guys I played with, and against. It's almost like a high school reunion, except we all still look good... hahaha. I'll fill all you guys in on my experiences next week.

'Til then, enjoy the game, be safe and be here next week for my report from San Diego!

Ed Marinaro
In his three seasons as Cornell's tailback, Ed Marinaro was the all-time leading rusher in Ivy League history. He established eight NCAA career records and was the runner-up for the Heisman Trophy. After turning pro he became a running back for the New York Jets, Minnesota Vikings and Seattle Seahawks. Then he turned to acting and played everyone from Joe Coffey on the classic TV show "Hill Street Blues" to Joey Buttafuoco in "Long Island Lolita."

In his off-time he enjoys ranting in his column for SportsHollywood.
