Get Over It
FILM PREMIERE AND PARTY

Report by Anthony Ross

It was a quiet night in Westwood for the premiere of the new Miramax teen comedy, Get Over It, until a white streeeetch Humvee limo pulled up to the Mann Festival theatre and out jumped hiphop dynamo Sisqó, much to the delight of screaming fans and flashing cameras.

limo
Sisqó arrives inside the only off-roading limo in Hollywood.
The red carpet was flooded with bright lights, and the barricade was packed with fans, photographers, news crews, and of course, 'Entertainment Tonight.' Stars Kirsten Dunst, Ben Foster (with a freshly shaved scalp), Melissa Sagemiller and Shane West, all stopped in mid stride to talk with the news crews, and let the fans and photogs flash their pictures. Super hot Carmen Electra (in a sweet gold number) and model and co-star Kylie Bax strutted down the carpet into the theatre, much to the delight of many male hearts. Stars of That 70s Show, Danny Masterson and Laura Prepon came out to support co-star Mila Kunis in her new big screen performance.

Inside the Festival, after all the seating hoopla had died down, director Tommy O'Haver introduced the film as a group effort, and thanked everyone from cast, crew and producing team...including co-producer and SportsHollywood's own Richard Hull. Also in attendance were co-stars Martin Short(who channels a bit of Jerry Lewis in his role as a drama teacher), and Swoosie Kurtz. Colin Hanks (nor his father Tom, whom you may have heard of) were there as Colin is shooting a flick out of town.

Dunst
O'Haver made his way through his 'thank you' list with polite applause for each name read, until of course he got to the fore mention Sisqó. The balcony was packed with young fans who won tickets from a local radio station, and when O'Haver thanked the young singer, the balcony crew went nuts! To acknowledge the fan's enthusiasm, Sisqó broke into a little Deion Sanders-esque improv dance that drove the crowd further into a frenzy. Not to be outdone, Kirsten (or "Kiki," as she's known) busted out with her own Sisqó imitation when O'Haver thanked her…she may not have Sisqo's moves, but she definitely has rhythm.

The premiere party was held a block away at Westwood Brewing Co., where cameras were politely set aside so the unrecorded fun could swing, and free lamb chops and booze could be consumed.

That aside, and without giving too much of the plot away, the film is a new spin on the teen comedy genre. The first 5 minutes sets a fun, bouncy tone with humor, music and color that lasts throughout the next 90 minutes. She's All That writer (and SportsHollywood.com 10 Questions participant) R. Lee Fleming mixed outrageous physical comedy and genuine emotion to create a sweet movie for people of all ages…just not teenagers.
