Born on October 2, 1971 in Norwalk, California, Tiffany’s career began at the age of five singing songs mature beyond her years--songs such as “Delta Dawn” and “Devil Woman.” Within months, she was singing at fairs and openings across the country and appearing on talent shows such as Star Search.

By the time Tiffany was 13 years old, her voice and determination landed her in front of the producer team of George Tobin and Brad Schmidt. Soon after, she landed a recording contract with MCA Records and began work on her first album--the self titled debut, Tiffany.

To promote the album, a plan was hatched to have Tiffany perform nationwide at shopping malls and within weeks she was singing to over 5,000 screaming fans in Salt Lake City, Utah. Soon Tiffany had become a superstar featured in magazines, newspapers, and even on The Tonight Show. Both “I Think We’re Alone Now” and “Could’ve Been” were US #1 singles and “I Saw Him Standing There” was a top ten included on her debut album in 1987. Tiffany even knocked Michael Jackson out of the number one spot on the album charts--humble beginnings with a mall tour had unbelievably led to two number one records and album sales past the six million mark. Her second album, Hold An Old Friend’s Hand, went double-platinum and included the top ten hit “All This Time.”

By the early 1990’s, Tiffany decided to take a break. “People think I disappeared. But I took time away to be a person, not just a personality,” she says. “I wanted to grow as a person, a mother, a wife and as an artist. I didn’t feel like I had to be in the public’s eye when I didn’t have anything to say.”

With the 2001 release of The Color of Silence, Tiffany is back with her first full-length record in over 10 years. The new album includes 7 songs written or co-written by Tiffany, an accomplishment she is especially proud of. “I have really challenged myself to write the best songs I can and I feel like I have been able to stretch beyond what people may expect to hear from me- this time, I had to do it my way.”

Critics have overwhelmingly lauded the album. Spin called Tiffany's duet with Krayzie Bone from the rap group Bone Thugs 'N Harmony "super-sexy," while Billboard proclaimed the album a "thoughtful and intelligent" successor to Alanis Morissette's Jagged Little Pill. We caught up with Tiffany after she performed at the SportsHollywood / A Happy Place party during the Sundance Film Festival.

TEN QUESTIONS

Tiffany
SportsHollywood: What's your favorite sport?

TIFFANY: I'd have to say soccer.

SportsHollywood: Did you ever play on a soccer team?

TIFFANY: I didn't know anything about soccer until I met my husband, and he introduced me to the sport. And now, my favorite team is Brazil.

SportsHollywood: Brazil?

TIFFANY: Yes, and my first game was in Argentina and they were playing Brazil. And I looked out into this crowd and there had to be like 300 gorgeous Argentinean men, and I turned to my husband and I said, "Oh my God, I love this game."

SportsHollywood: Hypothetical question: It's the World Cup, you're playing for your favorite team, the score is tied, only seconds to go, you are only inches away from the goal, the ball is at you feet.....would you rather make that goal or have a hit record?

TIFFANY: Oh, man, what a question...um, well, considering I suck at soccer, I'll take the hit record!

We also interviewed Tiffany's band: Tim, Robert and Joe...

SportsHollywood: Okay guys, what are your predictions for the Super Bowl?

TIM: Giants!

ROBERT: Giants!

JOE: Uh, Giants?

SportsHollywood: I see a pattern here.

TIM: That's because Joe doesn't know who's in the Super Bowl.

ROBERT: Yeah...Joe, The other team is called "The Ravens."

JOE: I knew that...I like New York.

Lance
SportsHollywood: Well Joe, we know what your favorite sport isn't. So what sport do you like?

JOE: Basketball.

SportsHollywood: Your favorite team?

JOE: L.A.

SportsHollywood: The Clippers or the other guys?

JOE: (look of confusion)

SportsHollywood: You know, L.A. has two teams.

JOE: Oh yeah, I know. But, I just moved down from Canada last year during the playoffs, so I really became a Lakers fan....nothing against the Clippers, that Odom guy is awesome.

SportsHollywood: Okay Joe, you're forgiven. Prediction for the NBA playoffs?

JOE: Maybe Portland, I think Orlando may be a last minute contender. And don't count out the New York Knicks.

SportsHollywood: Tim? College basketball predictions:

TIM: Kentucky!

SportsHollywood: I like Kentucky.

TIM: I was raised there.

SportsHollywood: But I'm a big Duke fan.

TIM: You and I cannot be friends!

(But then I bought him a beer, and all was well)
