Original Motion Picture Soundtrack

The trio Hubert Kah (featuring Hubert Kemmler: vocals, keyboards - Mark Loehr: guitars, keyboards - Klaus Hirschburger: bass) made music during the Neue Deutsche Welle (NDW), a movement that began around 1976 as a subculture and was massively commercialized by the music industry with other performers in the early 1980s. The NDW was not a uniform music genre: the spectrum of music ranged from New Wave and Punk to Industrial and Classical and Modern Avant-garde to Pop and Schlager. Characteristic were above all the German-language song lyrics, whose rhythm and sound were also reflected musically—especially through the use of electronic instruments—and coolness. Starting around 1982, Hubert Kah had commercial success with the singles "Rose Marie," "Starry Sky," and "Only Once With Erika (... entflieh'n this world)," and with the albums "My Highlights" and "I'm Coming." The trio caused a stir, especially with TV appearances in a nightgowns, or a straitjackets.

In 1984 came the trio's collaboration with producer Michael Cretu on a German-language album ( "Golden Age") followed in the English language, the albums "Tensongs" (1986) and "Sound of My Heart" (1989), which were partly successful internationally. Together with Cretu, Kemmler wrote and produced songs for other artists, including "Dancing Into Danger" for Inker and Hamilton,"Love at First Sight" for the band Münchener Freiheit, and hits by Sandra ("Maria Magdalena," "Heaven Can Wait," and many others). Sandra Kemmler was on background vocals.

"THE PICTURE"
Performed by Hubert Kah
Music by Hubert Kemmler, Markus Loehr and Klaus Hirschberger
Lyrics by Richard Palmer-James

Don't know how I'm gonna tell you this
Now I'm feeling so confused
And I know you'll be mad
If you could look at my eyes

Back at home where I belong
Back at home it seemed so wrong
To be cheating again
My fair lady loves me so well
She'll forgive me

When she took a look in my eyes
She saw a picture of you
Maybe you were her in disguise
And I was never untrue

Surely you will understand
I must take my life in hand
And forget all of it
You don't need me hangin around
Love is waiting

When she took a look in my eyes
She saw a picture of you
Maybe you were her in disguise
And I was never untrue

(In my eyes, in my eyes)

When she took a look in my eyes
She saw a picture of you
Maybe you were her in diguise
And I was never untrue

When she took a look in my eyes

Maybe you were her in disguise.
