Domark "Live And Let Die" (1988)

The Louisiana Bayou -- with Palm Trees and Pyramids

Live And Let Die was released on 20th October 1988, but wasn't actually intended to be a Bond game at all. It was originally titled, "Aquablast," but rebranded when Domark realized the resemblance of the game to the Bond film's high speed boat chase (as was usually the case with Domark, the conflict was in the idea, not in the artistry of the execution). Live and Let Die was all about dodging obstacles and shooting up enemy boats, featuring levels in the Sahara, New Orleans and the North Pole. (Just like the movie, right?) The image below compares the excitement on the cover of a breathtakingly fast Louisiana bayou chase vs. the sad reality contained inside the box.

Developers Elite Systems International Ltd began writing the game without knowing it would ultimately become a James Bond title. The game was swiftly branded with the usual 007 trappings and titled "Live And Let Die" as publishers Domark spotted the obvious connection with the film's speedboat chase. Elite also released the game as "Aquablast" to the market without any Bond branding.
